About

OceanBlue Coastal Retreats is set on a former market garden called Carrigdene Farm just east of Bonchurch on the Isle of Wight.

The farm was originally part of the nearby East Dene Estate which was residence to many well connected Victorians. The farm has been owned independently for many years and was bought by the Strevens family in the 1960s. Keith and Julie Strevens grew strawberries and tomatoes which were sold as the first of the season crop all over the UK.

Whilst the farm ceased trading in the 1970s, Keith and Julie, now in their 80s, continue to homegrow fresh vegetables and fruits in the walled gardens and fields above the holiday cottages. Over the years Lucy and Sean Strevens have developed and renovated many of the original farm buildings into holiday cottages for self-catering accommodation. The sheltered terraces and southerly aspect produces a remarkable microclimate which keeps year round temperatures mild and enables exotic plants to thrive.
